ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Linked to evolution" is a clinical term used to delineate a prognosis and emphasizes the uncertainty of a destination categorized by a diagnosis (cerebral palsy in this case). In spite of the pain made evident from the muscle contractures, the love coming from a personal bond becomes the best palliative to overcome the adversities and thus define a patient's evolution.
This artwork recreates a traumatic event that tries to be repaired with materials used in hospitals and with the action of suturing, just as a mother seeks to bond with her son with cerebral palsy and cope with the lived trauma.
Sewing is a maternal action and in this case suturing involves joining the parts that can be rescued. This process, often curative, is also painful; like the love of a mother who is nourished by their relationship.
