HPV (Capsule, 2016) is the first piece of the HPV project. A virus suspended in a glass capsule provides the ideal conditions to approach and contemplate this virus that besides of living in ignorance and discrimination, it seems to hide behind shame, sadness, fear, pain and ultimately death.
The base that seals the capsule is made with a type of granite called San Gabriel. This granite is often used to build gravestones in cemeteries. The glass capsule is fragile, as their social containment. It takes just a few cracks to release a virus that lives through social and sexual behavior.
With this composition I look forward to visually isolate HPV to give it a place in memory and therefore to consciousness.
