During my process to become a Medical Doctor, I interacted and connected with people, ideas and contexts that made me rethink the way we live. Currently, I am conducting two projects in reference to the human papillomavirus and teenage pregnancy. Both of these projects have their fundaments on scientific knowledge and are approached from a social, political and cultural perspective.
By observing the behavior of this virus I was able to understand a social and sexual behavior that is especially prevalent in Hispanic culture. This project seeks to open a new gate to interpret, analyze and understand a human conduct based on the observation of a virus. The themes related to my work have to do with love, inequality, segregation, ignorance, death and emptiness. My work serves as an analogy between art, medicine and social consciousness.
Some of the main objectives include giving visibility to the behaviors that we promote as a society, identifying the human body as a sociopolitical register through the diseases it develops and finally, to practice medicine through art.
